I was caucused as Vice Chair on May 3, 2026 and it is my privilege to serve Dubois County and the Democratic Party in this role. My background is primarily in healthcare, and my political interests have risen largely from issues that seemed to me to be common sense, but have become instead areas of political divide. I find it puzzling when people are convinced to stand behind a platform simply because of the party that presents it or because of a single issue within it, without knowing other positions it holds and how those positions may impact their lives, our communities, and the world we live in.

As a nurse, I never gave a thought to anyone’s political affiliation when considering how to treat them, because there are many needs common to us all by our shared humanity. I believe when we can begin from a point of agreement we will build stronger, more fruitful and beneficial communities. Different opinions and perspectives can become building blocks instead of walls, and good ideas aren’t cast aside because they came from the wrong side of the table. This is the kind of party I want to build in Dubois County and beyond.
